The inquiry that guided my sustained investigation is: How
can I depict the effects of today's beauty standards through art? I feel
that in this age, cosmetic surgery is on the rise, and everyone is fixated on buying
a better body and altering their appearance to fit this twisted standard of
beauty. Rather than embracing what they have, women spend a considerable amount
of money on implants and enhancements that make them look like clones. When
young girls with high media exposure constantly see this, they’re conditioned to
think that that’s how they’re supposed to look. In each of my pieces, I experimented
with different techniques through Adobe Illustrator, and created elaborate
images to represent the influences.
